French Cleats

A French cleat is a traditional cabinetmaker's technique for wall hangings.  It uses two horizontal bars at matching angles to support and align a hanging on a wall.  They can be hidden or visible and they're extremely strong: entire kitchen cabinet units are often hung with a single French cleat hanger

I offer custom French cleat systems for home or shop use, and I build them on a pattern that allows for maximum flexibility: they can look however the designer wants and can do whatever the designer needs.  They can be stained with exposed wood live edge shelves; they can be painted in full saturation colours to be made solid and modern looking.

Basic finishes are paint or stain + a thin polyurethane clear coat.

This image that I've been overusing is a recent commission for a customer who wanted a warm cottage style to contrast the clean white and grey of the office, with a short and long shelf for each panel; the shelves are made from premium live edge ash.

This is not a French cleat wall system, but this media stand is an example of the edge-banded plywood style that I use when I'm looking for a clean design.
